Frequently asked questions

What we are asked
most often.

Bookkeeping covers the recording of all your transactions: purchase and sales invoices, bank transactions, salaries, fixed assets, adjusting entries. We reconcile and monitor the accounts, prepare your VAT returns and produce your financial statements. Beyond data entry, our role is to guarantee reliable, up-to-date books that comply with Luxembourg requirements: a sound basis for your decisions and your legal obligations.
It depends on your activity, your volume of transactions and your obligations, in particular for VAT, where the filing frequency (monthly, quarterly or annual) often sets the pace. As a general rule, though, our approach is to be as up to date as possible: as soon as we have your documents, we update your file, all year round. You therefore have a reliable, current view of your situation at any time, and never face a deadline in a rush. We define the right rhythm for your situation together.
Yes, and it is one of our strengths. We work with an innovative digital solution from France, still uncommon in Luxembourg, which gives us a considerable head start in the way we work: a fully web-based interface and mobile app, paperless transmission of your invoices and statements, automatic document recognition, systematic digital filing. Better still, we make this tool available to you to issue your invoices, manage your documents and monitor your activity, so you benefit directly from our digital infrastructure. This organisation speeds up the processing of your file, makes the data more reliable and allows your books to be updated continuously throughout the year. And if you still prefer paper, rest assured: we adapt to your habits, without judgement.
Every Luxembourg company must draw up annual accounts and file them with the Trade and Companies Register (RCS), where they are published. The exact content of the obligations (balance sheet, profit and loss account, notes, management report where applicable) and the available simplifications depend on the size of your company: small companies benefit from abridged formats. Failure to file, or late filing, exposes the company to fines, and to heavier sanctions in case of repeated breaches. We prepare your accounts in the required format and manage the whole filing procedure, on time.
The standard timetable for a Luxembourg company is as follows: the annual accounts must be submitted to the general meeting for approval within six months of the financial year end, then filed with the RCS within the month following approval, i.e. no later than seven months after year end. For a financial year ending on 31 December, that means a meeting before the end of June and a filing before the end of July. We manage this timetable for you: accounts prepared in advance, meeting organised, filing on time; you have no deadline to watch.
Yes. Interim accounts, a closing of the books during the financial year, give you a reliable snapshot of your activity at a given moment: result, cash position, receivables and payables. They are invaluable for managing your business, preparing a decision (investment, distribution, hiring), answering a bank's request or anticipating your taxable result before year end. We also prepare more specialised reporting: reporting for investment funds and listed companies, NAV (net asset value) calculations. The frequency adapts to your needs: monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or one-off. It is all the easier when your books are kept up to date throughout the year, which is precisely how we work.
Yes. Some Luxembourg companies are subject to reporting obligations towards the Central Bank of Luxembourg (BCL) or the CSSF, the financial sector supervisory authority: this is notably the case for investment structures and for certain entities depending on their activity or size. Such reporting follows strict formats, taxonomies and deadlines. We identify the obligations that apply to your structure, prepare the returns in the required formats and ensure they are submitted on time. You thus comply with your statistical and prudential obligations without bearing their complexity.
Yes, changing firm is possible, but it needs preparing. First reflex: check your current engagement letter, which may provide for a notice period or termination terms to be respected. We help you see clearly and choose the right moment for the transition. Then we take care of the essentials: contact with your current firm, retrieval of your file, takeover of balances and history, and continuity of your deadlines. Between professionals registered with the Ordre des Experts-Comptables, this handover is governed by the rules of the profession. One point of caution, though: some accounting providers are not registered with the Ordre, and their terms and conditions are not always aligned with our profession's regulations, so the transition may prove less smooth. All the more reason to be well supported: we handle these situations methodically.
