Frequently asked questions

What we are asked
most often.

We take care of the complete payroll cycle: preparing payslips, calculating and declaring wage tax withholding, social security declarations to the CCSS, salary certificates, and tracking staff arrivals and departures. You send us the month's variables (hours, absences, bonuses) and we handle the rest, in line with Luxembourg deadlines and regulations. Our aim: an accurate, punctual, worry-free payroll, for you and for your employees.
In Luxembourg, tax on salaries is withheld at source: each month the employer deducts the tax directly from remuneration, according to the tax card (fiche de retenue d'impôt), and pays it over to the Luxembourg Inland Revenue (ACD). The amount depends on the tax class (family situation), the level of remuneration and the parameters shown on the card. It is an employer obligation, undertaken under its own responsibility. Our role: apply the withholding correctly on every payslip, for your employees as well as for remunerated directors and self-employed persons, manage the tax cards (residents and cross-border workers alike), prepare the returns so you can make your payments on time, and, where appropriate, help set up a personalised rate suited to each situation.
Yes. We assist you in drafting standard employment contracts compliant with Luxembourg law: permanent, fixed-term, part-time, with clauses suited to your situation (probation period, working hours, benefits). We ensure the mandatory particulars and applicable specifics are covered, especially for cross-border employees. For complex or contentious situations (negotiation of sensitive clauses, disputed dismissal, settlement), we work hand in hand with specialist employment lawyers: each plays their part, and you are well supported in every case.
In Luxembourg, a manager working as self-employed must register with the Joint Social Security Centre (CCSS) and contribute on professional income: health insurance, pension, long-term care. Contributions are first calculated on a provisional basis, then adjusted once your actual income is known, which can hold surprises if not anticipated. We also often recommend joining the Employers' Mutual Insurance Scheme (Mutualité des employeurs), optional for the self-employed but valuable: it covers you in case of illness by compensating part of your loss of income. We handle your affiliation, monitor your contributions, anticipate adjustments and advise you on the trade-offs that affect your social protection, such as the choice of your remuneration.
Yes. An inspection by the CCSS or the Inspectorate of Labour and Mines (ITM) may cover affiliations, salary declarations, compliance with employment law or the situation of seconded employees. Our assistance covers the whole process: preparing the documents requested, checking your situation beforehand, attending and liaising with the inspectors, and responding to any regularisation requests. The best inspection is the one you can face calmly: payroll and declarations kept rigorously all year round are your first line of protection, which is precisely how we work.
