Frequently asked questions

What we are asked
most often.

No. Wealth advice is often associated with large fortunes, but our support is just as relevant to executives beginning to structure their wealth as to families with established assets. What matters is not the amount, but the presence of issues to organise: the link between your business and your private wealth, a transfer project, real-estate structuring, a cross-border dimension. We adapt our involvement to your situation, whether simple or complex.
A holding company in Luxembourg, often a SOPARFI (société de participations financières), lets you group and organise your shareholdings and assets within a single structure. It can simplify the management of several companies, the flow of dividends between entities, the preparation of a transfer, or the arrival of new shareholders. The Luxembourg parent-subsidiary tax regime offers, subject to conditions, a favourable framework for holding participations. Be careful, however: setting up a holding or a SOPARFI is by no means automatic and is not justified in every situation. It is a decision that requires a proper prior analysis of your objectives, structure and constraints, which we carry out with you before any recommendation.
The SPF (société de gestion de patrimoine familial), created by the law of 11 May 2007, is a vehicle dedicated to the passive management of private financial wealth: shares, bonds, fund units, cash. It is reserved for individuals and family wealth structures, and may not carry on any commercial activity. Its main appeal lies in its tax neutrality, in return for an annual subscription tax. Unlike the SOPARFI, it is confined to financial assets and cannot receive direct real-estate income. SPF and SOPARFI do not meet the same needs: the choice depends on the nature of your assets and your objectives, which is precisely what we analyse with you.
Holding property through a company rather than directly can make it easier to manage, transfer and organise your real-estate assets. Depending on your situation, this may involve a civil real-estate company (SCI) or a holding owning the properties or the companies that hold them. Each arrangement has its legal, tax and succession implications, particularly in a Franco-Luxembourg context, where property taxation differs from one country to the other. We study the structure best suited to your properties, your objectives and your family situation, with no ready-made solution.
It is one of the major issues for an executive: your business and your private wealth are often closely linked, and decisions taken on one have consequences for the other. Salary or dividends, ownership of business premises, reinvestment, preparing a sale or a transfer: every choice deserves to be thought through as a whole. Our position as chartered accountant, familiar with both your company and your personal situation, gives us that overall view and allows us to help you make the right trade-offs between the two spheres.
A transfer is prepared in advance, ideally several years ahead, so that it takes place in the best human, legal and tax conditions. Depending on your goal, passing on to your children, selling to a third party, gradually bringing in a successor, the levers differ: holding structuring, gifts, splitting of ownership, shareholders' agreements, sequencing of transactions. The aim is to anticipate, to avoid a transfer that is forced upon you and heavily taxed. We build a tailored strategy with you, in coordination with your notary and the other advisers, taking cross-border specifics into account where relevant.
Yes, it is even at the heart of our approach. Wealth management involves several specialists, notary, lawyer, banker, insurance adviser, whose actions must be consistent with one another. We often act as conductor: we coordinate these advisers, ensure the overall consistency of the strategy, and spare you from having to link up sometimes compartmentalised advice yourself. If you already have your advisers, we work with them; if not, we can refer you to trusted partners.
Yes. Wealth evolves, as do your personal situation and the regulatory framework. We can provide regular follow-up: consolidation and reporting of your various assets, periodic reviews, adjustments to the strategy as your life and the law change. The aim is to give you a clear, up-to-date view of your wealth and to let you decide with full knowledge, without having to gather scattered information yourself.

Wealth to structure?
